Are you interested in a rewarding volunteer experience with our Board of Directors? We’d love to hear from you!
Carpenter Hospice has been vital to the Burlington community for over 20 years. More than 3,000 persons have spent their final days in our care since we opened our doors in 2002. Our mission is to support people right from the moment of diagnosis of a life-limiting illness until their final days.
Our 11-bed hospice is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals and a fantastic community of volunteers who provide compassionate palliative care to meet residents’ every need and ensure that every moment matters.
Since opening, our programs have expanded to include a community-based approach led by our Community and Supportive Care team that provides:
1. Much-needed spiritual and bereavement services.
2. Complementary therapies.
3. Music and art.
4. Wellness programs for individuals with a life-limiting illness and their families.
Carpenter Hospice is governed by a community-member volunteer Board of Directors that provides strategic guidance and oversight to the organization. To best reflect our community, we are committed to establishing a qualified Board of Directors that embodies the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Board is currently seeking members from within the Burlington community who can commit approximately five hours per month and provide perspective on death and the needs of dying in our increasingly diverse society, in addition to having experience in one or more of the following profiles:
1. Individuals with a background in healthcare, especially Palliative Care, Engineering or Finance
2. Governance: knowledge, understanding and experience in governance
3. Legal expertise (corporate/charity)
4. Family or close associate who has had experience with Carpenter Hospice
If you are interested in joining our Board, please submit a cover letter and resume package to the attention of our Governance Committee Chair by email at on or before April 30, 2024.
