Board of Directors

The Hospice is governed by a community Board of Directors comprised of passionate and dedicated volunteers from the Burlington community.

The board provides strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the Hospice’s sustainability and success of our organization.

 

Each board member brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and a shared commitment to our mission of providing compassionate care to individuals and families in need.

Their leadership, vision, and support play a crucial role in helping us uphold the highest standards of care and continue making a meaningful impact in our community. We are grateful for their ongoing dedication to advancing the mission of Carpenter Hospice.

Mike Cook - Chair

Mike joined the board in 2020. He is a life-long management consultant and is currently Head of Industry Advisors at Zafin. Mike has lived in Burlington since 2007, is an ardent promoter of our city, and a grateful supporter of the Hospice that served his family with compassion and dignity during the passing of a family member.

Jennifer Ashton, Vice Chair

Jennifer joined the board in 2022. She is an Oakville insurance company VP & CFO and holds a CPA, CA designation. She has over 15 years of leadership experience and is responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of finance, including financial and management reporting, accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, and taxation. Outside of work, Jennifer finds balance by reading, golfing, exercising, and attending her children’s various sports and activities.

Adine Carter

Adine joined the board in 2024. She is a Communications & Corporate Affairs Executive with a Masters Degree in Communication Management/Public Relations. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the fields of marketing, communications, government and public relations. Adine’s personal connection with Carpenter Hospice as the home where her mom spent her last peaceful days led her to join the Board in 2024, where she hopes to contribute to the Hospice’s growth and continued impact in the Burlington community.

Jamie Kozub

Jamie joined the board in 2024. As a dynamic entrepreneur and community leader, Jamie has woven his professional success with a profound commitment to philanthropy. Beyond the realms of business, Jamie’s leadership in the Burlington Dads Not For Profit showcases his exceptional dedication to local welfare. Additionally, Jamie‘s professional and family life is supported by a strong partnership with his spouse, who plays a crucial role in backing the endeavors of the Burlington Dads group.

Sean Campbell
Stephen Solenka

Stephen is an accomplished strategist, people leader, and delivery professional with over 20 years of experience in IT, management consulting, and financial services. Stephen has helped organizations thrive by guiding and informing mission critical decisions, and leading transformative initiatives. Having worked with respected names such as TD Bank, Microsoft, and PwC, he brings insight and a broad business perspective to every role. Stephen currently leads the Product & Technology PMO at Dayforce, a leading payroll and HR software provider.

A long time Burlington resident, Stephen is committed to giving back to the community – his volunteer work spans health care, social services, and the arts, reflecting a genuine passion for making a positive impact to local organizations. Stephen holds a B.Comm from Toronto Metropolitan University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto.

Brenda Sutherland

Brenda joined the board in 2022. She is one of the founding partners of Corelife Wellness where her passion for helping people shines through. Brenda is very excited about her latest undertaking where she has returned to work in the family business, Sutherland Development Group, to head up the sales and marketing team. Brenda finds joy in traveling, quality time with her family, including her loyal canine companion Mr. Jackson, and continuous personal growth through education and self-development.

Randall Rixon

Randall Rixon is the Vice President of Partnerships at APOLLO Insurance. Before being named VP Randall was Director of Business Development at TD Insurance for over 20 years where he played a key roll in driving growth through the development of new partnership acquisitions and the execution of strategic business plans. He, his wife and two grown daughters are long-time residents of Burlington with a special connection to Carpenter Hospice

Sandhya Maini

Sandhya joined the board in 2024. She is one of our Rotary Clubs of Burlington representatives.

Geoff Brockway

Geoff is a new board member this year.

Frank Baillie

Frank Baillie joined the board in 2024 and is a Rotarian and retired physician. He practiced General Surgery and Emergency Medicine over nearly fifty years, primarily in Hamilton at McMaster University and Hamilton General. Frank retired in 2020 after a career of clinical practice, teaching, and many leadership roles including the creation of ‘CritiCall’ for the Provincial Health system for which he received an M.S.M. From the Governor General. Frank now lives in Burlington, has three children and six grandchildren.

Mary Dilly

Mary joined the board in 2024.

Sarah Logue

Sarah Logue is a local Burlington realtor who believes honesty and integrity are the best currencies in life and business!  As the Team’s founder, she proudly serves as the Broker of Record for RE/MAX Escarpment Team Logue Realty. 

She has brought her past consulting expertise and professional approach to real estate, developing a strong client base and building up a clear business, rather than working from one sale to the next. This translates into exceptional service to her clients and a process that ensures success for everyone involved. 

Sarah’s drive to excel every day comes from the passion she carries for her family and community. 

Sarah is very proud to have been elected to serve on the Carpenter Hospice Board of Directors.
